Manufacturing quotes: machining, molding, sheet metal and PCB assembly
Record a request for quotation for a made-to-print part: process, material, tolerances, finish, quantity and lead time.
Prepare a made-to-print RFQ →
Check what a shop needs to quote your part, see whether your lead-time stages fit your target, put the quotes you receive side by side on landed cost, and copy the RFQ text.
What it is for
An engineer with a drawing needs a shop that runs the right process at the right volume: five prototypes machined in a week, or 20,000 molded housings a quarter. Finding a shop with open capacity, the right equipment and the quality certifications for one part is slow, and many requests for quotation go unanswered. This records the part, process and terms so that which processes, volumes and lead times go unserved can be studied.
Mechanical and electrical engineers at product companies, hardware startups moving from prototype to production, and sourcing staff replacing a shop.
What happens to a request
Your request for quotation is recorded as described. No drawings are taken, nothing is quoted or ordered, and no shop is sent your part. If you leave a contact and a shop that runs this process at this volume can be identified, a reply may come; it is not promised. Do not send drawings here: confidential or export-controlled designs belong with a shop under your own agreement. Contact details are stored apart from the requirement and deleted after 180 days.
What you get
A receipt with the request's identifier, the fields we could not match (a unit price, a shop or a lead time is never supplied here), and a plain statement of what happens next.
Scope and limits
Anywhere; shop location preferences are recorded as stated.
- No manufacturing is done or ordered; this records the requirement.
- Drawings and CAD files are not accepted; describe the part in words.
- Export-controlled parts (ITAR or EAR) are recorded only as a stated need.
What you can specify
- process and material
- critical tolerances and surface finish
- quantity per order and per year
- lead time and quality certifications required
