# Licensing images, footage, music, fonts or patents

## What it is for

A producer, publisher, brand or manufacturer often knows the work it wants (a photograph, a clip, a recording, a typeface, a patent family) but not who controls the rights or what a licence for its use would cost. Rights divide by territory, term and media, and an unlicensed use is expensive. This records the work, the use and the terms needed so that where licences are hard to obtain, and what users would pay, can be studied.

Video and podcast producers, publishers and advertising agencies, product designers and brand teams, manufacturers seeking a patent licence, and agents clearing rights for them.

## What happens to a request

The work and the use are recorded as described. No licence is granted, sold or negotiated here, no rights holder is contacted, and nothing here says who owns a work. If you leave a contact and a rights holder or licensing agent can be identified, a reply may come; it is not promised. Contact details are stored apart from the requirement and deleted after 180 days.

## What you get

A receipt with the request's identifier, the fields we could not match (a rights holder, a fee or a licence is never supplied here), and a plain statement of what happens next.

## Scope and limits

Any territory; the territory of the licence is recorded as stated.

- No rights are held, granted or cleared; this records the requirement.
- Who owns a work, and whether a use needs a licence, are legal questions not answered here.
- Patent licences are recorded only as a stated need; validity and infringement are not assessed.
