Court, property, permit and business records from a named office
Record a public record you need retrieved (a court filing, deed, permit or business filing) from a named county, court or agency.
What it is for
Many records are public in law but not online: older court files, deeds and plats at county recorders, building permits in city files, corporate filings in state archives. Getting one can mean a written request, a clerk's fee and a visit. A lender, title examiner, lawyer or diligence analyst needs the specific document from the specific office by a date. This records the record, the office and the deadline so that where public records are hard to obtain, and what retrieval is worth, can be studied.
Paralegals and attorneys, title and diligence analysts, lenders and investors checking a property or a company, journalists and researchers, and agents gathering documents for them.
What happens to a request
The record and the office that holds it are recorded as described. No request is filed with any court or agency, no fee is paid and no one is contacted about your record. If you leave a contact and the record can be found online, or a retriever who serves that office can be identified, a reply may come; it is not promised. Contact details are stored apart from the requirement and deleted after 180 days.
What you get
A receipt with the request's identifier, the fields we could not match (a document, a case list or a certified copy is never produced here), and a plain statement of what happens next.
Scope and limits
United States (federal, state, county and city offices); other jurisdictions are recorded as stated.
- No record is retrieved or ordered; this records the requirement.
- Sealed, confidential and restricted records are never sought.
- Background checks on individuals for employment, credit, insurance or housing decisions are not handled here.
What you can specify
- kind of record and the office that holds it
- case, instrument, book and page, permit or file number
- date range
- plain or certified copy, and the deadline
