A firm deciding whether to pursue federal work, size a competitor's government business or find prime contractors to subcontract under needs the awards actually made, with amounts, agencies and industry codes. This queries USAspending's award search and returns the largest matching contract awards.

Business development staff at government contractors, subcontractors looking for primes, and analysts sizing a market segment's federal spend.

What happens to a request

The call sends your filters to the USAspending.gov award search API and returns the matching contract awards (definitive contracts, purchase orders, delivery and task orders) sorted by amount, with the award identifier and a link to each award's public page. Nothing is estimated.

What you get

A JSON answer with up to 25 awards: award ID, recipient, amount, awarding agency, start date, NAICS code and description, and the USAspending link.

Scope and limits

United States federal agencies; recipients anywhere.

Contract awards only; grants and loans are not included.
Open solicitations are not covered (they are on SAM.gov, which needs a separate key).
Amounts are obligations as reported to USAspending, not payments.
